How to Find Cheapest Travel Flights? Here is one for $9

Last updated:

First of all, don’t think I am some kind of a genius who pulls this information out of my backside area. Just like you, I have searched, and still search for relevant information on how to find cheaper travel flights. This time, /u/EveningTomorrow9612/ is to thank for this detailed info.

Most of this is already used by myself, but I still found some nice tips that definitely help make my flights even cheaper.

Some of these tips lower the cost to 30-40$ even.

Flying the Cheapest Way

Remember, Google is still your friend – that’s why we will use Google Flights a lot. But it doesn’t stop there.

To find the cheapest flight is a bit tedious in the beginning, but once you get used to the process, you will save hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, no matter where you live. Let’s start with the USA, where my core audience lives.

—————————
Finding Cheap Flights Within USA

First off, you should know that there are many cheap airlines, that don’t even show up when you google “X to Y cheap flights”.

When you look where to fly to, you should first start with a direct search on websites that are based close to the location you are trying to get. These are some of the websites that offer cheaper prices:
* Allegiant Airlines
* Frontier
* Breeze Airways
* Spirit

The best way to get the cheapest plane tickets is to sometimes buy two of them!’

Why?

It’s because when the airport is bigger, prices are cheaper – at least in most cases. It’s what experience tells.

That means, searching for a direct flight is going to take more from your piggie bank compared to flying two times.

So, for example, what if you try to get from Cincinnati to Portland? What I would do is this:
Find the flights from Cincinnati to Las Vegas, and then from Las Vegas to Portland.

An airline called Spirit goes to Las Vegas a lot, so the prices to that location are going to be drastically cheaper with them, even with two tickets!

You can check Google Flights also just in case it finds even better prices.

Finding cheap flight for Europe

If you want to fly to Europe, the best course would be to also check the prices on either Google Flights (free) or Scott’s Cheap Flights (paid). The last one is recommended in case you travel a lot, so it does most of the legwork for you.

Once you’ve done that, check how much it costs to fly to Dublin/London, and then through the RyanAir website check the flight price from Dublin/London to your destination.

RyanAir is based out of Dublin, so their prices are marginally cheaper compared to other airports.

Some flights are even as low as 10 dollars…

So all in all, you might save quite a few bucks from your trip. It’s a hassle, but hey, it accumulates over time.

Extra Tips for Saving on Flights

Some Airlines like Spirit, Frontier, Allegiant have “20 dollars off” codes flying around. So before you use those airlines, or any in that matter, check if there are any coupons available.

If you feel like flying with a major airline like Delta or United, then you should consider buying gift cards online.
Cardcash.com is one of those places.

People report not having any issues with using them. By buying gift cards, you can save 5-10% of the full price.

One more tip that I definitely recommend is that if you live outside of some major city, consider taking a bus to that big city. Experience tells that the bigger the city, the cheaper the prices in terms of travel flights.

In my time, I have driven to another European country even, just to get that sweet price reduction.

If you don’t have time or patience to do the legwork, let Scott’s Cheap Flights do it for you. They will search the best routes in the most optimal way without you breaking a sweat. Click here for more information.
